A graduate from the University of Bordeaux in 2020 with a trilingual Master’s degree in global security and political analysis, Laura joined the French Chief of Staff’s International Military Relations Unit in the Asia Pacific and Latin America office of the Ministry of the Armed Forces for an initial end-of-study internship. This first tangible experience in the world of defence gave her a real insight into international relations and military diplomacy.
An international profile
Laura, who is trilingual in French, English and Spanish took up a second internship at the French Embassy’s defence mission in Mexico. Her work here revolved around the strategic surveillance and analysis pertaining to this second Latin American economic power faced with several security challenges. Laura also contributed to events organised as part of the defence mission, such as the visit of a delegation of 83 Legionnaires from the French Foreign Legion on the occasion of the military parade for the Mexican National Day celebrations in 2021. Moreover, she frequently had the opportunity to interact with French manufacturers established in Mexico.
A year in the Naval Group Mexico office
In 2022, Naval Group opened a representative office in Mexico - the 15th world economy, the 13th Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the 10th industrial power - to support the Mexican Navy in defining and developing its projects. This is when Laura discovered Naval Group and joined the office in Mexico late 2022 as Executive Assistant - Business Analyst Manager.
She mainly sees to the day-to-day running of the representative office and follows the group’s sales strategy in Mexico and Latin America. Laura is also involved in preparing institutional and industrial events such as Naval Group’s participation in the FAMEX aerospace fair in 2023 and organising a seminar on the sidelines of the Jeanne d’Arc mission’s stopover in June 2023.
As a trained analyst, Laura carries out political, security, economic and competitive surveillance pertaining to this region while maintaining ties with embassies, ministries as well as local political and military authorities. Now halfway through her VIE, Laura is keen on continuing her career in the world of defence. While this field is demanding, she also finds it equally fascinating! She can see herself continuing to work with Naval Group should the opportunity arise.
