Our social commitment

Being the employer of more than 15,000 employees worldwide places a particularly vast responsibility on Naval Group’s shoulders. Accordingly, the group deploys a highly active human resources policy that fosters the quality of the social climate and life at work, underpinned by dynamic social dialogue.

Naval Group has developed a policy that guarantees employees’ equal and competitive compensation while promoting their career development. Moreover, strategic workforce planning serves to anticipate changing job requirements and to adjust the resources to the needs.

As part of its international development, Naval Group pursues an ambitious foreign assignments policy to optimally support the mobility of its employees.

Highly active in terms of training, in 2013 Naval Group inaugurated its Naval Group University, which organises internal and external training for its employees and its customers.

The group also supports professional equality and diversity. Firm in the belief that diversity is a fundamental issue, Naval Group has signed an agreement with its social partners in favour of professional equality between men and women, and the employment of people with disabilities. This agreement ensures the development of diversity in all lines of business, promotes equal treatment between men and women in their careers, and acknowledges the balance between professional and private life.

In this respect, Naval Group is a member of the “Elles bougent” association, a network of female engineers and technicians from more than 50 partner enterprises with the goal of encouraging high school girls and young female students to pursue careers typically perceived as male-oriented.

In 2017, a new agreement within the “generation contract” scheme was signed and incorporated in the strategic workforce planning agreement. It includes the elements of the previous agreement, while pursuing a pro-active policy in terms of recruiting under 30s and over 50s, as well as a job retention component.

Meanwhile, via its “Mission Handicap”, the group makes a daily commitment to better integrating people with disabilities within the company.

As of 2019, French legislation requires companies to monitor the result of indicators relating to the pay gap between men and women, and to publish them each year. In addition, it imposes relevant and adequate measures by companies whenever this result falls below 75 points out of a possible 100. The sum of the results obtained by Naval Group for each indicator gave an overall rating of 88 points out of 100.

The Health and Safety at Work (H&SW) policy implemented by the group has produced excellent results. The audit for the renewal of AFNOR certifications conducted during FY 2017 confirmed the certification of Naval Group’s Quality, Safety and Environment (QSE) global management system for the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.

The group has also undertaken an approach to improve the H&SW performance of its suppliers.
