DCNS India to participate in Clean Ganga Fund

On March 24, DCNS India contributed to Clean Ganga Fund*, an initiative with the main objective to contribute to the India’s national effort of cleaning the river Ganga. Through its donation, DCNS India, as part of DCNS Group, leader in naval defence and major player in marine renewable energy, strives to meet its sustainable development and its social responsibilities. CSR - DCNS India DCNS India’s contribution will enable to tackle major challenges posed to Ganga, holy river of India, in a comprehensive approach adopted by Government of India, through four different modes, wastewater management, solid waste management, industrial pollution and river front development. Bernard Buisson, Managing Director of DCNS India noted: “DCNS India is proud to contribute to Swachh Bharat (Clean India) Mission, in order to ensure effective abatement of pollution and conservation of Ganga River. DCNS activities in India

DCNS India, DCNS Group’s subsidiary based in Mumbai, has been working at the selection and qualification of Indian companies as partners for local production of the SCORPENE® submarines’ equipment in the frame of P75 Program. Six SCORPENE® submarines are being built under P-75 by MDL with transfer of technology from DCNS through a successful cooperation. The first submarine built under P-75 programme with SCORPENE® design, christened ‘Kalvari’, set afloat last year, is undergoing various sea trials before its commissioning in few months from now. It successfully conducted its maiden test-firing of an anti-ship missile in the Arabian Sea on Thursday 2 March 2017. The second of the series called ‘Khanderi’ was launched on 13 January 2017 and will undergo process of demanding trials at harbour and at sea.

A major industrial player in naval domain, DCNS pursues a policy of ongoing improvement on environmental issues. The initiatives have enabled to earn Advanced Global Compact status, acknowledging DCNS’ ongoing commitment to strengthening a more socially, environmentally and economically sustainable word with its network of industrial partners.   * Clean Ganga Fund (CGF) is an initiative from the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, aiming to mobilize resources for improving the condition of the river Ganga.
