FDI – Born ready for hybrid fleet

A hybrid fleet is a naval force built around distributed, autonomous, and networked assets — Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs), Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), artificial intelligence enabled sensors, and software defined mission systems.
Thanks to its digital architecture and multi-domain connectivity, the FDI is designed as a combat node that orchestrates unmanned assets and distributed sensors within a wider network, making it naturally aligned with the hybrid‑fleet concept.
Conceived from the outset as a mothership-by-design platform, the FDI enables the short-term deployment of genuine hybrid fleets, to confront current and emerging threats through manned-unmanned teaming.
FDI is natively designed to integrate drones, autonomous vessels, and emerging system
The FDI is built around the physical integration of drones:
Dedicated hangar for rotary-wing UAVs (up to 700 Kg), allowing frictionless operation of an aerial drone in parallel of its dedicated ASW helicopter.
USV-compatible launch and recovery systems (LARS), to carry and deploy in full autonomy its own unmanned surface escort.
Naval Group / Sirehna’s USV, Seaquest-S, has been successfully tested in operational conditions during several trials and demonstrations, both in France and overseas. Seaquest-S has showcased its flexibility, highlighting its ability to fulfil a variety of needs, from ISR to combat missions.
The FDI, together with the Steeris mission system (MS), offers today the future of hybrid fleet, leveraging on over fifteen years of expertise in integrating drones on board combat vessels
Steeris MS is designed for seamless integration on board a warship operation centre and its combat management system (CMS). It is a virtualised solution which can be used from an existing multifunction console or through a compact hardware configuration.
It is a multi-drone, multi-domain mission system, already fully integrated to our SETIS CMS and compliant with the STANAG 4817. Steeris MS can thus be interfaced with NATO C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance).
Steeris MS encompasses the full function range of drone operation:
- Mission planning.
- Real-time mission supervision.
- Dynamic control of payload and payload data analysis, tactical tracks elaboration, exploittion in support of a naval task group tactical situation.
- Post mission analysis and capitalisation.
Steeris MS can manage the overall mission of any teleoperated drone (such as UAVs or USVs) or autonomous system (such as UUVs).
And it already did, for various drones: Schiebel Camcopter S-100, Airbus U070, Delair DT46… and of course Naval Group’s drones and autonomous systems: Seaquest and Seagent.
FDI does not need to adapt to the drone era.
She was born ready.
