[2020 Fem’Energia Award] Sandy, SBNI Work Package Manager

11 December 2020 Human ressources Corporate social responsibility Story

Sandy, 30, joined Naval Group’s Secret Basic Nuclear Installation (SBNI) in April as a Work Package Manager (WPM) with the mission of preparing for the SBNI restructuring work, scheduled to be carried out from 2022 by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in order to accommodate the Barracuda submarines. Assisted by the Nuclear projects Manager and the Operations Manager for CEA services, Sandy is preparing the expertise phase (for lead, asbestos, civil engineering, ventilation surveys, etc.) for the installation’s existing buildings, which includes drafting specifications for the service providers.

A workshop profile, with works expertise

Sandy is no stranger to engineering works and workshops! Before joining the SBNI, she worked at Orano in Cadarache for 4 years as a Works Coordinator in nuclear plant dismantling. “My role was to act as the interface between the management and the site”, she explains. A profile that nicely complements the range of skills within the team. Originally from Lyon, Sandy chose the nuclear industry in 2013, attracted by the technology and its strict safety standards. She then completed a year's apprenticeship in nuclear risk management at Orano's Marcoule site. With a DUT technology diploma in industrial management and a bachelor’s degree in management obtained in Ireland, Sandy has already gained two years’ work-study experience in quality, safety and the environment at Orange. At the SBNI, new challenges await: coming up, there will of course be deadlines to meet, but also the breaking of new ground in our commercial relationship with the CEA. Sandy is the mother of a little girl, and is passionate about sport and travel.
